The Highest paid DJ of the 2012 Hit Parade!
The magazine Forbes has compiled a Hit Parade for the International 10 highest paid DJs in the world. They come from different part of the world but they have at least one thing in common: everyone of them make the most part of their gains by their Tours. Their operating costs are often negligible, unlike Rockers and Pop Stars that usually reach to achieve only one third gain from the sales of their tickets. These estimations consider Live shows that for many artists mean more than 100.000 dollars for one night and from the sales of recorded music.
Holland Tijs Michiel Verwest is a man of records. Better known as Tiësto, this 43 years old man, has been the first DJ to perform at the Olympic Games (Athens, 2004) and seven years later he has filled the California Arena with 26.000 places, the greatest crowd for a solo electronic performing act in the history of United States. He is now the first in the FORBES hit parade of the highest paid DJs of the world. “Every time I raise up money I did invest on myself … I bought everything I needed to improve my skills”, said the DJ. “I never have spend money on other things, like to buy expensive cars.” Now he is reaping what he has sown.
While the old school of the dance music scene mocks the omni-comprehensive label EDM, few are those who negate its rapid progression within the main stream. Danny Whittle, director of the brand for one of the most important club in the world, ties up the achievements of EDM to the link between the genre and the web. The DJs have been the first to give their music for free and to adopt the Social Media as tools, to prefer the business of the Live Shows instead of the Album Sales one. “Our musical genre has embraced Internet, all the other have tried to frustrate it, said Whittle. “At the end is like to put a prohibition, it never works.”
